Device
Check your selected device settings and Toolset.
- Database
- Allows you to select a Device Database as defined in the file TOOLS.INI. The drop-down is grayed-out when one or none Device Database is defined.
- Vendor
- Shows the vendor of the selected device.
- Device
- Shows the name of the selected device.
- Toolset
- Shows the required development toolset (ARM, C51, C166).
- Pack (only for devices from DFPs)
- Name of the Device Family Pack (DFP) that contains the information for the selected device. The Device Family Pack must have been installed already on your workstation.
- URL (only for devices from DFPs)
- Link to the web page containing the MDK5 Device List.
- Search
- Enter a string to search for a device. The device list is narrowed while typing the letters. You can use Regular Search Expressions.
- Device List
- Displays a list of devices sorted by manufacturer and device name. Green icons mark devices that get their characteristics from a Device Family Pack.
- Use Extended Linker/Locater (LX51) instead of BL51 (for C51 toolset)
- LX51 is required to support the far memory type, Linker Code Packing to optimize the complete application, and for devices with extended address space. LX51 provides features, like user memory classes, special ROM (SROM) support, and multi-application linkage.
- Use Extended Assembler (AX51) instead of A51 (for C51 toolset)
- AX51 is required for full support of LX51 features on assembler level. AX51 also is needed for devices with extended address space or instructionset extensions.

A classic Device List is available:
- For C51, C251, and C166
- For MDK Version 4 and before
- When the MDK Version5 Legacy Support is installed.
- Modify devices as explained in Customize or Add Devices.
