Monitor Configuration

The MCBx51 Evaluation Board includes several pre-configured monitor configurations (MON51 and MON251) programmed in EPROM.

The MON51 and MON251 Target Monitors provide a direct interface for source-level, symbolic debugging with the µVision Debugger. Use the serial port of your PC to download and debug target programs on the MCBx51 Evaluation Board.

MON51 and MON251 allow you to:

  • Display memory contents in ASCII and hexadecimal,
  • Interactively change memory contents,
  • Display and change register contents,
  • Initialize memory with constant values,
  • Disassemble program code,
  • Assemble in-line code,
  • Run programs with breakpoints in real-time,
  • Single-step through your program,
  • Step over subroutines,
  • Upload and download Intel HEX files, OMF-51, and OMF-251 object files.

There are several monitor configurations available for the MCBx51. You select the monitor to used based on which 8051 or 251 device you use, serial port requirements, and memory configuration. Refer to the User's Guide for complete information.
