Keil MDK supports new Cortex-M7 Devices

ARM today announced complete device support in Keil MDK Version 5 for the new ARM Cortex-M7 based devices from Atmel and STMicroelectronics. MDK Version 5 is the most comprehensive software development solution for Cortex-M processor based microcontrollers. MDK includes IDE, C/C++ compiler, debugger, Software Pack management, and CMSIS software components. The MDK Professional Edition also includes the MDK-Professional Middleware with software components for TCP/IP networking, USB Host and Device, File System, and Graphical User Interfaces.

Two new Software Packs for MDK Version 5 now add device support for the Atmel SAM V7 and the STMicroelectronics STM32F7 series. These Software Packs provide a complete software framework along with CMSIS-Driver implementations for standardized peripheral access.

Refer to the MDK5 Device List for a complete list of supported devices.

Middleware and Examples

Several example projects that run on various evaluation boards show the benefits of the ARM Cortex-M7 based devices and the software components that are part of CMSIS and the MDK-Professional Middleware.

Webinar Series

Register to our webinar webinars series to learn more about the MDK Version 5 support for the new Cortex-M7 devices:

Atmel SAM V7 Series

The Atmel SAM V7 devices are based on the high-performance 32-bit ARM Cortex-M7 processor with Floating Point Unit (FPU). These devices operate at up to 300 MHz and feature up to 2048 Kbytes of Flash, up to 384 Kbytes of multi-port SRAM and configurable Instruction and Data Tightly Couple Memories (DTCM) to leverage the advanced DSP capabilities of the core.

CMSIS-Driver support for USB, Ethernet, MCI, SPI, I2C, and USART make all components of the MDK-Professional Middleware available to users of the series. These middleware contains software components for TCP/IP networking, USB Host and Device, File System, and Graphical User Interfaces.

Atmel SAM V71 Xplained Ultra evaluation kit

The Atmel SAM V71 Xplained Ultra evaluation kit is ideal for evaluating and prototyping with the Atmel SAM V7 series and MDK Version 5. It features USB Host and Device, Ethernet, and SD card connectivity. Together with the MDK-Professional Middleware, you can start designing sophisticated applications right away.

STMicroelectronics STM32F7 series

The STMicroelectronics STM32F7 series is based on the high-performance 32-bit ARM Cortex-M7 processor with Floating Point Unit (FPU). The devices operate at up to 216 MHz and feature up to 1 Mbytes of Flash, up to 320 Kbytes of SRAM, including 64 Kbytes of Data Tightly Coupled Memory (DTCM) for time critical data handling.

With full CMSIS-Driver support based on the STM32Cube libraries, developers have access to the complete set of software components that are part of the MDK-Professional Middleware.

STM32F7 discovery kit

The STM32F7 Discovery Kit features USB Host and Device, Ethernet, and SD card connectivity, as well as a 4.3" color LCD-TFT (480x272 pixels) with capacitive touch screen that is fully supported by the Graphics component of the MDK-Professional Middleware. This allows developers to quickly create their final application.
