Keil PK166 with extended Infineon XE166 Support

Keil extends the C166® product line with support for the Infineon XE166 Low-end and Ultra Low-End series. The XE166 Low-end and Ultra Low-End series expands Infineon's 16-bit XE166 microcontroller family to provide more scalable performance for cost-sensitive industrial applications which typically run with an 8-bit microcontroller.

The new family members called XE160, XE161 & XE162 offer the following specific features in addition to well known timer, capture-compare and communication peripherals:

  • 12-bit ADC for high accuracy measurements for Sensor applications.
  • Window Watch Dog for safe supervision of algorithms.
  • Small packages like TSSOP-38, QFN-48, QFP-64 for space optimization on the PCB
  • Integrated safe and fast Flash memories from 32kByte up to 160 kByte with MPU.
  • DSP functionality and up to 80 MIPS performance.

The µVision IDE directly interfaces to Infineon DAVE™ a code generation tool for peripheral initializations and basic low level drivers. It is very easy to import the generated code into µVision and to synchronize both tools.

The XE166 Low-end and Ultra Low-End series features a single pin DAP (Debug Access Port) that connects to µVision using the Infineon miniWiggler. The µVision IDE/Debugger supports Program Debugging and Flash Programming including the Boot Mode Index (BMI). All device features can be programmed and tested in a single environnment which eliminates the need for external tools or utilities.

"The Keil C166 Professional Developer's Kit is a very popular compiler solution for C166®-based microcontrollers. The latest version produces very high code quality for the Infineon XE166 Low-end and Ultra Low-End series," said said Manfred Choutka, Regional Marketing Manager for Microcontrollers at Infineon Technologies. "With its µVision IDE, Keil also provides complete support and a direct interface to work with the Infineon code generation tool DAvE and with the miniWiggler which features an innovative single-pin debug interface DAP."
