Advanced Motor-Control Algorithms for STM32

Plano, TX: STMicroelectronics has extended its library of functions supporting vector control of electric motors using the 32-bit STM32 microcontroller (MCU). The library includes new turnkey algorithms supporting single-shunt sensorless control, control of IPM (Internal Permanent Magnet) motors, and field-weakening controls for PMSM motors.

The additional library functions will allow faster time-to-market, lower BOM costs, optimal motor selection and a larger operating envelope in future generations of appliances, industrial drives, pumps, HVAC systems, vending and cash machines, and electric vehicles.

The ARM Microcontroller Development Kit (MDK) fully supports the STM32 motor-control library:

  • The evaluation version of MDK can be used to build the library with market leading performance and code density
  • MDK can connect to the Segger J-Link included on the STM3210B-MCKIT hardware development kit in order to run and debug motor-control applications
