Keil MCBSTR7 Board for STR7 ARM Devices
Plano, TX: Keil Software extends its development tools
portfolio for ARM with the MCBSTR7 Evaluation Board. This
board uses the new STMicroelectronics STR710FZ2 ARM-powered
microcontroller which is a superset of several other STR7 devices. The
STR710Z2 offers 256+16KB Flash ROM, 64KB RAM, various 32-bit timers,
4 channel 12-bit ADC, USB, CAN, UART, SPI, I2C, and 48 I/O ports.

MCBSTR7 Evaluation Board
Getting started with new ARM devices can be difficult and
time-consuming. Hardware that allows developers to experiment and
learn about the new device is required. The Keil MCBSTR7 Board
provides everything that is required for a single-chip STR7 system
— USB, CAN, and two UART interfaces, analog input (via
potentiometer), and eight LEDs.
An evaluation version of the Keil Development Suite for ARM is
provided with the MCBSTR7. It allows engineers to create ARM programs
for the evaluation board. Extensive program examples introduce ARM7
family programming and are provided ready-to-run on the MCBSTR7. The
STR7 Software Library provides a collection of drivers for the STR7
peripherals including complete examples that work with the Keil ARTX-ARM Advanced RTOS. For
programming and debugging, the Keil tools support Flash programming
and software debugging via the JTAG interface and the Keil ULink USB-JTAG Adapter (available
separately).
While other ARM Development Kits rely solely on the Embedded ICE,
the Keil µVision Debugger adds accurate simulation of the
instruction set, on-chip peripherals, interrupts, and other
characteristics of the STR7 device series. The advantages of complete
device simulation include: detailed trace and timing analysis and
automated input patterns for regression testing. These extensive
simulation capabilities support detailed analysis of complex
algorithms that interface to peripherals and help embedded developers
overcome challenges unique to embedded systems projects.
