Keil Supports ST µPSD3200 Devices
Dallas, TX: The µPSD3200
family of 8032-based microcontrollers is STMicroelectronics' first
foray into the world of 8051-class microcontrollers. The new family
features 8-bit microcontrollers with a 40MHz 8032-microcontroller
core surrounded by dual banks of Flash memory, SRAM, programmable
logic, I/O, and a wide variety of peripherals. With Flash and SRAM
densities of up to 288 Kbytes and 32 Kbytes, respectively, the
µPSD3200 family offers the largest Flash and SRAM densities
available today in an 8051-class microcontroller, and the only one to
include on-chip programmable logic.
Although C compilers and firmware development tools from any
vendor that supports the standard 8051 architecture may be used for
the µPSD, the Keil µVision IDE is the only one
to directly support the µPSD. All C Code generated from ST's
µPSD Development Software, PSDsoft Express, is directly
compatible with the Keil PK51 and DK51 tool kits. The PK51
includes an excellent non-intrusive background debugger, ISD51, which uses either of
the two UARTs on the µPSD for firmware debugging with
breakpoints. For future µPSD devices, Keil will be the only
compiler to support the dual-data pointers of the µPSD in such
a way as to allow for more efficient code development, and JTAG
debugging.
