Monitor Configuration

The MCB520 Evaluation Board includes a pre-configured monitor (MON51) which is programmed in EPROM. Several different monitor configurations are available (see below).

The MON51 Target Monitor provides a direct interface for source-level, symbolic debugging with the µVision Debugger. Use the serial port of your PC to download and debug target programs on the MCB520 Evaluation Board.

MON51 allows you to:

  • Display memory contents in ASCII and hexadecimal,
  • Interactively change memory contents,
  • Display and change register contents,
  • Initialize memory with constant values,
  • Disassemble program code,
  • Assemble in-line code,
  • Run programs with breakpoints in real-time,
  • Single-step through your program,
  • Step over subroutines,
  • Upload and download Intel HEX files and OMF-51 object files.

There are several monitor configurations available for the MCB520. You may download the HEX files for several variations here or you may build your own custom configuration.

The following 8051 Monitors are available for the MCB520 Evaluation Board:

To use one of these monitors, you must have the capability to erase and re-program the EPROM on the MCB520 Evaluation Board.
