Cloud-based development for IoT applications

For system development, DevOps with build and test automation reduces time-to-market and delivers higher software quality by utilizing CI/CD workflows. However, microcontroller applications are mostly validated on physical hardware making test automation inefficient. DevOps key principles such as shared ownership, workflow automation, and rapid feedback are today therefore not established.

This presentation explains how the software development process of embedded applications can be improved by introducing test-driven development along with simulation models that enable continuous integration workflows. Using latest Arm technology, such as Arm Virtual Hardware and Keil Studio Cloud, together with open-source software components such as the Open-CMSIS-Pack project, makes DevOps easy in the cloud while still maintaining traditional development flows that embedded software developers care about.
