EPM900: µVISION CRASHES WHEN CHANGING SETTINGS OF EPM900

Information in this article applies to:

  • EPM900 LPC Emulator

QUESTION

µVision crashes when I attempt to configure the emulator. With an LPC932 example open and the EPM900 connected, I go to Project — Options for Target — Debug — Settings button, and then the crash occurs.

I plugged in the USB cable with the board attached. Windows recognized a new USB device and loaded the correct drivers for the LPC900 emulator.

What am I doing wrong?

ANSWER

From time to time the EPM900 USB driver is not correctly installed.

To make sure the correct drivers were installed for the EPM900:

  1. Connect the EPM900 to the PC. In Windows, open the Control Panel, and select System.
  2. Go to the Hardware tab and select Device Manager.
  3. Look under the Universal Serial Bus Controllers Section. Select Keil USB LPC900 EPM.
  4. Go to the Driver tab and select Driver Details. The driver file being used should be KEILLP.SYS.

If the driver is not KEILLP.SYS you need to update the driver from the Keil CD-ROM. On older Keil CD-ROMs, this driver is found in the \KEIL\SETUP\DRIVER\DRIVERS\ folder.
