EPM900: PROGRAMMER REPORTS THIS IS NOT A LPC9XX DEVICE

Information in this article applies to:

  • EPM900 LPC Emulator

QUESTION

I have correctly configured the EPM900 for programming mode by setting the jumpers to PROG and int. XTAL. I have also connected an LPC device to the EPM900 socket. When I start the Flash - Download command in the µVision IDE, I receive the following error message:

*** Error: This is not a P89LPC932 device.

What is wrong? Is my programmer damaged?

I'm using an off-chip XTAL in emulation mode and there the device works correctly.

ANSWER

Most likely, you previously configured the system for running with an off-chip XTAL. However, when using it as a programmer, you must configure the bondout device for Internal RC Oscillator.

This is done in Project — Options for Target — Use LPC900 EPM Emulator/Programmer Settings — Configure EPM900 Emulator. There, you must:

  • Disable: Use UCFG1 from START900.A51
  • Oscillator: Internal RC Oscillator

IMPORTANT: After making these configuration changes, you must start the EPM900 in Emulation mode. This writes the bondout configuration. After that, the EPM900 programmer should work just fine.
