ULINK: KEIL*.SYS USB DRIVER UPDATE PROBLEM

QUESTION

I have problems with my ULINK or EPM900. It seems that the device does not operate correctly. Are there any known problems?

I have even seen the message:

ULink system driver (KeilUL.SYS) is too old.
Please disconnect and reinstall software.

What can I do?

ANSWER

There is a potential update problem with the KeilLP.SYS (for EPM900) or KeilUL.SYS (for ULINK) USB driver files. The update does not work when you have connected a EPM900 or ULINK before you install an update.

The current device driver versions are:

• Windows\Driver\System32\KeilLP.SYS
  Version 1.12 dated 4. Feb. 2003.
• Windows\Driver\System32\KeilUL.SYS
  Version 2.10 dated 10. Jun. 2005.

If you have older revisions, download the attachment from this Knowledgebase Article and run the setup USBDrivers.EXE.

The driver update does not work when you have already connected the EPM900 Emulator/Programmer or the Keil ULINK USB JTAG Adapter. So you need to start your computer without the EPM900 or the ULINK before you can update these files. Also you need to re-boot your computer after you have copied the actual driver versions.
