LICENSE: Transferring a Node Locked License to a Sub-Contractor

Information in this knowledgebase article applies to:

  • Keil MDK 5
  • Node-Locked (Single User) License

QUESTION

I have purchased a Node-Locked license to register Keil MDK.

Now I need to assign the license to a sub-contractor temporarily.

Could you provide step-by-step instructions for the best method to accomplish this?

ANSWER

The current version of our License Agreement confirms permitted users, i.e. bona fide sub-contractors, see this excerpt:

A Node-Locked, also called Single-User License, does not allow registrations to a 2nd user.

Note, if you decide to provide your Product Serial Number (PSN) to a sub-contractor you can't use the product by yourself anymore during that period.

It is required to follow these steps (and to comply with the License Agreement) to get a Node-Locked license transferred to a sub-contractor:

1. Un-install all current registrations to your product.

2. Next, share your PSN with the sub-contractor.

3. The sub-contractor now follows the instructions on the installation to have Keil MDK registered to his account (FYI, supported Keil MDK product versions are offered here).

4. As soon as the sub-contractors tasks are completed, advise him to un-install his registration.

5. Optional: Open a Support Ticket to get the un-installation as well as the compliance to the License Agreement confirmed by Keil.

Next, you are again entitled to register the product to your own account.
