C51: Using PDATA Variables on Infineon XC800

QUESTION

The Infineon XC800 device series has a PDATA paging register XADDRH that resides in the SFR page 3 at address 0xB3.

What are the steps required to use the PDATA addressing on the XC8xx devices with C51?

ANSWER

The attached project shows the configuration of the PDATA memory for Infineon XC800 devices.

It is composed of the following components:

• START_XC.A51: initializes the XADDRH register when PPAGEENABLE is set.
• Simulator.INI: configures the µVision simulator for the ppage address register XADDRH.

The example project demonstrates the usage of the BL51 (where the PDATA start address is specified in the dialog Project - Options - BL51 Locate) and the LX51 Linker/Locater (where the PDATA address range is specified under Project - Options - LX51 Locate - User classes.
