C166: Setting Simulator Options for Debugging a C166 Device

QUESTION

I went to Project — Options for Target — 'Debug' tab. I selected the 'Settings' button under the simulator side, and found several options that I could not find described in the manual. What do these options do?

ANSWER

These options set up the 'hardware' that the simulator will connect to the chip. You set up how the chip is going to respond in the startup file.

• EA#: Enable this check box to pull the EA pin on the microcontroller high. Leave the check box unchecked to pull the EA pin on the microcontroller low.
• CLKCFG: Selects the external clock multiplier.
• BUSTYP: Selects the Clock configuration.
