ULINK: Debugging With the Infineon EASY UTAH Board

QUESTION

I have the Infineon EASY UTAH Board for the C161U or C165UTAH and I'm trying to use the Keil ULINK as an OCDS Interface adapter together with the µVision Debugger. So far I'm having no success. What is wrong?

ANSWER

A common problem is the pull-up/pull-down resistors on the TRST line. The Infineon EASY UTAH Board uses a 10K Ohm pull-down to GND whereas the Keil ULINK has an 10K Ohm pull-up to 3.3V. Therefore, the high level on the TRST line might be not strong enough.

You may solve this problem in one of two ways:

Replace the pulldown (R37) on the Infineon EASY UTAH Board with a 47K Ohm resistor.

OR

Replace the pullup (R13) in the ULINK with a 2.2K Ohm resistor.
