ULINK: CONNECTION ISSUES WITH ULINK AND XC161 AC STEP

Information in this article applies to:

  • ULINK USB-JTAG Adapter
  • ULINK2 USB-JTAG Adapter

QUESTION

I am having trouble connecting to an XC161 (AC Step) with Keil ULINK USB-JTAG Adapter. The link is working with an Infineon XC161 Starter Kit (AB Step).

ANSWER

In many cases, this is caused by one of the following circuit problems:

  • Pull-up resistors on the OCDS interface should be 100KOhm. Refer to Debugging with XC16x for more information.
  • External reset logic sometimes confuses the power-up sequence generated by ULINK. We recommend that you bypass ICs that could interfere with the Reset Signal from OCDS to the XC16x device.
  • The Connector Pinout drawing in the manual marks VDD as optional. However, supply voltage should be available. If your board does not provide VDD on this pin you may set the VDD jumper inside ULINK to +3.3V and ULINK will provide it for you.
