A51: Obtaining an Include File for a Particular Device

QUESTION

For my assembly project, I need an include file for a particular 8051 compatible device. I have looked in the C51\ASM directory and I cannot find it. Where may I obtain the include file?

ANSWER

Check the Device Database for your device - each database entry includes a header file.

Check out the Download page, then select File Downloads followed by C51 Files. There are example projects for many different devices - these examples include header files.

If you cannot find the exact header file you need, then find the closest match to your device either in the C51\ASM directory or the web site.

Make a copy and using the datasheet make the changes and additions required to the SFRs and sbits. This won't take very long to do and is basically a 'copy and complete' exercise.
