ARMCLANG: Use of LTO is disallowed in this variant of ARM Compiler

Information in this knowledgebase article applies to:

• ARM Compiler Version 6

QUESTION

I am using Keil-MDK and would like to use the link time optimization (LTO) option of ARM Compiler Version 6.

But every time I build the project, the below error appears in the build window of µVision IDE:

Use of LTO is disallowed in this variant of ARM Compiler

ANSWER

A registered version of Keil-MDK is required to use this Compiler option.

This option is not available for either the evaluation version of Keil-MDK or the Keil-MDK registered with free ST licenses.
