µVISION DEBUGGER: RTXv5 threads are not shown in System Analyzer

QUESTION

I'm using CMSIS-RTOS2 based RTXv5.x in my project. Since the Event Viewer debug functionality of µVision doesn't support RTXv5.x, I want to use the new System Analyzer debug feature introduced since MDK v5.25 to have a graphic view of my RTXv5.x thread events. However, all my RTX threads are not shown in System Analyzer. How can I resolve this issue?

ANSWER

The prerequisites to show RTXv5.x thread events in System Analyzer are listed as follows:

1. Upgrade ARM::CMSIS pack and Keil::ARM_Compiler pack to the latest version in µVision Pack Installer
2. Follow this manual page to enable and configure Event Recorder in your project
3. In Manage Run-Time Environment dialog of µVision, select the Source variant for Keil RTX5, as shown in this screenshot
4. Open RTX_Config.h file, under Event Recorder Configuration section, enable "Global Initialization" and "Start recording". And under RTOS Event Filter Setup, enable "Operation events" or "Detailed operation events" option, as shown in this screenshot. Under RTOS Event Generation section, make sure "Thread" is enabled
5. Rebuild your project and start a debug session. RTXv5.x thread events should show up in System Analyzer as in this screenshot

Note that if you are not using the latest MDK version, it is worth trying the latest MDK version to eliminate the possibility caused by a MDK µVision GUI bug.
