µVISION DEBUGGER: "Security Key Not Found" Starting the Debugger

QUESTION

My Keil MDK installation is licensed with FlexLM using a license.dat file on my local hard drive. My projects build without errors, but when I start the debugger, I get this message:

I don't use a dongle. Why doesn't the debugger use my license?

ANSWER

The debugger cannot find your license.dat file. This will happen if you specified a path to your license.dat file that contains one or more spaces without using double quotes.

To fix this, in the FlexLM License tab of the License Management dialog, edit the path and filename enclosing it within double quotes. For example, change this:

C:\Keil_v5\UV4\FlexNet\My License\license.dat

To this:

"C:\Keil_v5\UV4\FlexNet\My License\license.dat"
