ARMCC: Backslash '\' at path omitted with Arm Compiler 6.5 selected

Information in this knowledgebase article applies to:

  • Keil MDK 5.20 with Arm Compiler 6.5

SYMPTOM

I am struggling with Arm Compiler 6.5.

It seems that the compiler has problems with the backslash character in paths, i.e. a backslash is omitted. I see error messages like:

ArmClang.exe: error: no such file or directory: '......Source.c'

The problem does not appear with, i.e. Arm Compiler 6.4.

CAUSE

Shortly after releasing Keil MDK 5.20, the command line generation for armclang has been changed, so that backslashes are converted to forward slashes.

RESOLUTION

Just update your Keil MDK installation to Keil MDK 5.21 or later.
