GENERAL: Can't pin PackInstaller.exe to Taskbar

Information in this knowledgebase article applies to:

SYMPTOM

When trying to pin the PackInstaller.exe to the taskbar neither the option from the context menu nor dragging the file onto the taskbar works.

CAUSE

Windows 7 or higher is preventing executables that contain the term "inst" to be pinned to the taskbar.

RESOLUTION

A workaround to this issue is:

1. Create a shortcut file ("PackInstaller.exe Shortcut.lnk") to PackInstaller.exe (right click -> Create Shortcut)
2. Rename the PackInstaller.exe Shortcut.lnk to something not including “Inst”, like Pack.lnk
3. Drag the renamed Shortcut onto the taskbar.

STATUS

This is standard windows behaviour and no fix can be supplied.
