µVISION DEBUGGER: Logging a Trace Recording to a FileInformation in this article applies to:
QUESTIONI would like to record the trace buffer to a file so that I can view it later. Can this be accomplished with a µVision debugger command? ANSWERNo specific µVision debugger command exists for that log feature. However, the copy to clipboard and find functionality for the Disassembly Window and output has been added in µVision 2.30 . The trace buffer is combined with the disassembly window and therefore you can copy to clipboard and then save the clipboard to a file using MSWordpad, using the following procedure; 1) In the debug with simulator mode. 2) View - Disassembly window 3) View - Debug Toolbar 4) Start from cursor 5) Set breakpoint 6) From Debug Toolbar - Enable Trace Recording 7) From Debug Toolbar - Run (to Breakpoint) 8) From Debug Toolbar - View Trace Recording 9) Move cursor in Disassembly/Trace window and highlight the lines of the Trace buffer to copy. 10) Edit - Copy 11) Start MSWordpad 12) Control V - to Paste into MSWordpad 13) Save MSWordpad as an ASCII Text file. The Trace function is still only available in the simulator and not the target level debugger (MON51). MORE INFORMATION
