µVISION: Tool Path Not Defined Error

SYMPTOMS

Help. I receive the following error when I try to compile my project with µVision:

Tool path not defined: Bad or Missing C:\KEIL\TOOLS.INI

What's wrong?

CAUSE

This error message is typically caused when you have selected a chip from the device database that is not supported by the tools you have. For example, if you have licensed the C166 development tools and you select a 251 device for your project, you will receive this error message.

RESOLUTION

Select a chip that you are certain is supported.

• For the C51 tools, select the Intel 80C51.
• For the C251 tools, select the Intel 80C251SB.
• For the C166 tools, select the Infineon C167CR-LM.
