C51: Getting Evaluation Version When Using the Silicon Labs IDE

Information in this article applies to:

  • C51 All Versions

QUESTION

Although I have installed the full version of the C51 compiler, I still get the following error:

FATAL ERROR L250: CODE SIZE LIMIT IN RESTRICTED VERSION EXCEEDED

when I compile using the Silabs IDE. Why do the Silabs tools use the evaluation version?

ANSWER

After installing and licensing your Keil C51 tools, you must configure the Silabs tools to use them. To configure the Silicon Labs IDE:

  1. Open the Project - Tool Chain Integration window.
  2. Change the Assembler, Compiler and Linker executable paths to point to the folder where you installed the Keil tools.

If the problem still persists, make sure you have licensed your Keil tools by requesting, receiving and adding a LIC for your PC.
