QUESTION

I'm upgrading to a USB security key and it looks like there is a new security driver required. What are the steps to install the new driver? The build output may show one of the following showing messages:

C9555E: Failed to check out a license

MISSING DEVICE (R003(0): SECURITY KEY NOT FOUND)

R012: DRIVER NOT INSTALLED

WARNING C500 (MISSING DEVICE)

What does this message mean?

ISSUE

The Sentinel SuperPro USB may require an update of your Keil tools. The InstallSheild wizard for the Keil tools should install the Sentinel System Driver install automatically during the setup process. If this fails, you may download the Sentinel Protection Installer V7 and use this as stand-alone installation for the driver.

RESOLUTION

If this tool confirms that the USB Dongle is broken, contact your local distributor to receive a new device.

For users with older version of the Keil tools

  • Use the CD-ROM shipped with your new dongle or download the latest updated from http://www.keil.com/update. Start the setup program but do not choose Update current installation. Instead, select Install Support for Additional Microcontroller Architectures.
  • During SETUP, select the option Install the Sentinel Driver. This is required to install the new Sentinel Driver version. Now the USB Dongle should work.

If you still receive this error after checking your security key and its connection, contact technical support so we may assist you.
