Troubleshooting Guide

Before you start testing your ULINKpro, please make sure that:

  • Only one ULINKpro is connected to your PC.
  • Windows 7/8/10 is running
  • Your target system works at 3.3V. For other target voltages use the 5V adapter.
  • ULINKpro is not connected to the target system.
  • If possible, use one of the Keil example projects together with a standard evaluation board.
  • Use a target system that is known to be functional.

Start Testing

  1. Depending on your target system and toolset, select one of the ULINKpro drivers:
    • ULINK Pro Cortex Debugger - for Cortex-M0, Cortex-M1, Cortex-M3, Cortex-M4, and Cortex-M7 devices
    • ULINK Pro ARM Debugger - for ARM7 and ARM9 devices

    Select Driver

  2. Click Settings.
  3. If the Serial Number and Firmware Version are shown, continue with the next step.
If they are blank, continue with Hardware Checklist.
  4. Connect your target system to ULINKpro using the supplied ribbon cable. Ensure the red stripe of the ribbon cable is connected to pin 1 of the debug connector.
  5. Ensure to power ON the target system.
  6. If you see an ARM Device Name and IDCODE in the JTAG Device (or SW Device) list box, continue with the next step.

If you receive an error message, for example SWD Communication Failure or an empty JTAG Device Chain list, continue with Target Checklist.

    Device OK

  7. ULINKpro is communicating with your target system. If error messages occur during a flash download or in a debug session, refer to Error Messages.
