Install mini-USB Drivers

Install mini-USB Drivers explains the process of installing drivers for the USB Mini interface located between the 12VDC Power supply and the Ethernet connector.

Windows asks for the driver installation and opens the Found New Hardware Wizard. Download the nowFlash™ Programming Tool, which contains the drivers, from the Texas Instruments web-page TMS570 flash programming tool.

  1. Unzip and execute the file downloaded from the web-page, for example to C:\Temp.
  2. Click Locate and install driver software (recommended).

  3. Windows attempts installing the driver.

  4. Windows might not find the driver. On the next screen click I don't have the disc. Show me other options.

  5. Next, click Browse my computer for driver software (advanced).

  6. Select the location where the driver files are stored, for example C:\Temp\ti\nowFlash\v338\drivers, enable Include subfolders, and click Next.

  7. When installed successfully, a confirmation screen is displayed.

  8. The installation process will repeat for the USB Serial Port driver.

  9. Windows prompts the Found New Hardware wizard again. Repeat the installation steps and select the same driver location. When the installation process finishes successfully, a confirmation screen is displayed. The assigned COM port is displayed in the wizard screen.

To determine manually which COM port has been assigned:

  1. Open the Device Manager (enter devmgmt.msc in the command prompt). The device appears as a USB Serial Converter with an additional COM port labeled "USB Serial Port".

To uninstall the drivers:

  1. Open the Windows Device Manager (enter devmgmt.msc in the command prompt).
  2. Expand Universal Serial Bus controller.
  3. Right click each device and select Uninstall.

When installation issues arise:

  1. Open the Windows Device Manager (enter devmgmt.msc in the command prompt).
  2. Expand Ports (COM & LPT).
  3. Right click the device name and select Update Driver Software...

Note

  • Administrator rights are required to install the software.
  • Subsequent connections to the board do not require new driver installations.
