Serial Port

The MCB54110 board connects the on-chip serial USART to the ST3232C (IC20), which converts the logic signals to RS-232 voltage levels.

The RS232 serial port is configured as a standard 4-wire interface. The DB9 connector is wired directly to the ST3232C serial interface. Refer to the figure below for details.

Jumpers at J4 should be installed in the RS232 position to allow a board RESET via the DTR pin, and to enable In-System Programming (ISP) via the RTS pin as shown in the figure below. When the J4 jumpers are in the LINK position, the debug adapter controls RESET and ISP0.

Jumpers at J5 must be installed in the RS232 position to connect transmit data (TX) and receive data (RX) signals from the ST3232C to P0.0(RXD) and P0.1(TXD) USART Flexcomm interface on the LPC54114 MCU. When the J5 jumpers are in the LINK position, the debug adapter (on-board or external) provides receive and transmit data to the LPC54114 USART.
