Specify Memory Layout

Define specific memory areas for source files or groups using the Options for ... - Properties dialog. Use this feature to place variables defined in that object into a certain memory area.

  1. Invoke the Context Menu of an object located in the Project Window.

  2. The Memory Assignment section allocates data types to specific memory areas, which in turn have been defined in the Project - Options for Target - Target dialog.

    • When RAM is used for Code / Const , the __main initialization copies the program code and constants to this RAM for execution. The image is stored in the default read/only memory area specified in the dialog Project - Options for Target - Target.
    • These settings are used to generate a scatter-loading description file for the linker. Nevertheless, the settings are ignored, if you disable Use Memory Layout from Target Dialog in the dialog Project - Options for Target - Linker.
    • This feature is not available in the Keil MDK-ARM Evaluation Version.
