µVISION: Error in code completion functionality

Information in this knowledgebase article applies to:

  • MDK v5.30
  • MDK v5.29
  • Arm compiler v6

If two instances of µVision are opened in a quick manner with the same project then the 2nd instance of µVision might give the error message which indicates that the dynamic syntax checking, code completion and browse information functionalities have been disabled, as below:

After this error, the code completion functionality stops working in µVision:

This issue specifically appears with large projects.

If such a project is opened up twice in a fast manner then the background functionality of creating the browse information is not finished in the 1st instance of µVision and thus one or more source files remain locked which causes this issue in 2nd instance of µVision.

There are 2 workarounds to resolve this issue:

Do not open the 2nd instance of µVision till the blue text at the bottom of µVision "Creating browse information" disappears in 1st instance of µVision.

Turn off the "Browse information" in Options for target -> Output tab.

This issue has not been fixed.
