My µVision screen layout appears to be corrupt after playing with the software and moving all windows to different places. The same thing also happened to me once after a system crash. Is there a way to restore the default screen layout?


Yes, but the solution depends on the version of µVision:

A) µVision V5.15 and higher

Select the menu Window – Reset View to Defaults, which now offers this selection:

The recommended solution is to select Reset, but in some cases you may have to Restart µVision from scratch, the disadvantage being that the active debugger session gets lost.

B) µVision V4.23 - V5.14

     Select the menu Window – Reset View to Defaults

     If this does not recover the corrupted screen:

  1. Exit µVision
  2. Open your project folder with the Windows Explorer
  3. Delete all files in whose names the string uvgui appears 
  4. Restart µVision

C) µVision older than V4.23

Delete all registry entries for µVision by using the following procedure:

  1. Use Start — Run — Open: REGEDIT to open the REGEDIT registry editor.
  2. Select HKEY_CURRENT_USER -> Software -> Keil -> µVision(Version) and delete the complete registry key. µVision will then restore the standard screen layout as well as the registry keys!
