µVISION DEBUGGER: Using the Brownout VTReg

Information in this article applies to:

  • µVision Version 2.30

QUESTION

Is it possible to simulate brownouts on the NXP (founded by Philips) LPCxxx devices?

ANSWER

Yes. There is a VTREG named BROWNOUT that can be used just for this purpose. When you set the BROWNOUT VTREG to a value of 1, the µVision Debugger simulates a brownout condition (a drop of the power supply below the trip point and its return to normal). This causes a reset or interrupt. The BROWNOUT VTREG is automatically reset to 0. For example:

BROWNOUT = 1

causes a brownout condition.
