System View Description Converter

The System View Description Converter (SVDConv) validates XML-based CMSIS-SVD description files and generates peripheral register files (*.sfr) for being used with the System Viewer.

The command line utility (SVDConv.exe) is located in the installation folder ..\UV4. The XML-based CMSIS-SVD file serves as the input file. The resulting file is created in the current directory. Errors and warnings are printed to the console. The general syntax is:

SVDConv <SVD file> 〚Command Options

Where

<SVD file> Is the name of the CMSIS-SVD XML file, which describes the device peripherals.
--generate=sfr Generates the peripheral register file (*.sfr). The file name is derived from the device name as specified in the CMSIS-SVD input file (XML-tag <name> on device level).

Examples

SVDConv ARM_Sample.svd

Parses the file ARM_Sample.svd and writes errors and warnings to the console. No output file is generated.

SVDConv ARM_Sample.svd --generate=sfr

Parses the file ARM_Sample.svd.xml and writes errors and warnings to the console. Generates the peripheral register file device_name.sfr
