Tips and Tricks

These advanced techniques for the Project Manager are not needed very often, but give a good understanding about the µVision capabilities.

• Start External Tools interact with external programs during the build process of the application. This feature is useful for pre- or post-processing. For example, some emulators require the creation of symbol information.
• Redirect Output for Object and Listing Files redirect object and listing files to ohter folders.
• Customize or Add Devices define a new device that currently is not listed in the Device Database.
• Create a Library File for being used at a later time.
• File and Group Specific Options configure objects individually.
• Different Compiler and Assembler Settings change tool options for a file group or even a single file.
• File Extensions set the file extension for the various file types of a project.
• Version and Serial Number Information allows you to view project specific tool version information.
• Include Library Modules specify library modules that should be always included into a project.
• Use a Custom Translator shows how to pre-process files with a custom specific translator.
