CAN Communication
The CAN Bus connects multiple microcontroller systems. To test a CAN application, a complete system needs to be constructed. When testing with real hardware, typically a CAN Analyzer is required that generates the messages to other applications.
The following figure shows a typical hardware configuration for system test of a CAN application.
The µVision3 Simulator provides a complete CAN environment that allows you to test a CAN application at system level. µVision provides an interface to the CAN peripheral via:
- Dialog pages which show the status of the CAN peripheral and CAN message communication
- Virtual Simulation Registers (VTREG) which allow you to write debug scripts that simulated incoming or outgoing messages
