| PC Performance RequirementsTracing data in real-time, also called streaming trace, will consume resources, like CPU time and RAM, on the PC. To examine the tracing speed with ULINKpro, the reference test was made with: - The ..\MCB1700\Blinky_ULp project.
- An LPC17xx device running @96MHz.
- Running a full trace and stopping the µVision debugger after 1 minute.
The tests were made on PCs with the following configurations: - PC1 — Intel Pentium 4, with Hyper-Threading Technology, 3.0 GHz, 1.5 GB RAM (533 MHz DDR2), WinXP
- PC2 — Intel Pentium D, Dual Core, 2.8 GHz, 2.0 GB RAM (533 MHz DDR2), WinXP
- PC3 — Intel i7 860, Quad Core, 2.8 GHz, 4.0 GB RAM (1067 MHz DDR3), Win7
The time listed below is the period required to finish the tracing process after the µVision debugger has been stopped. | PC Type | Time | Remarks |
|---|
| PC1 | 2m30s | With Hyper-Threading disabled; Windows almost not responding while processing. | | PC1 | 3m15s | With Hyper-Treading enabled. | | PC2 | 2m35s | | | PC3 | 0s | Real-time processing is possible. |
Note - The CPU should support the Hyper-Threading Technology.
- The hard disc's read/write speed should be at least 40MByte/s.
