Current spikes when debugging

During debugging, if you see current spikes that cannot be explained by the operation of your software, or unexpected current spikes in the System Analyzer window, you should check the SWD lines of your target hardware for pull-up resistors:

Periodic current spikes

The spikes are created when the debugger accesses the target via SWD every 60 milliseconds. If you are using the Energy Measurement without debug mode, you will see that the spikes are gone:

Periodic current spikes

Note

To get rid of the spikes during debug, you should consider to remove the pull-up resistors from the SWD lines.
