Target Debug Options

The Target Debug Options sub-dialog configures the Debugger. Other dialog options are described in Target Driver Setup.

OCDS Target Debug Options

Cache Options

These controls improve the performance of the µVision Debugger during target debugging by caching target memory areas in the PC memory. By default, these options are enabled to achieve better performance while debugging.

  • Enable: Memory content is treated as unmodified while the program is halted.  Executing the next single step, procedure step, or go command updates the cached display.
  • Disable: View actual memory content (for example the content of xdata memory mapped peripherals) even if the debugger is halted.

Start Options

When Verify Application in ROM is enabled, the debugger compares the memory contents of the target's Flash ROM with the current application.

Note:

  • Verify Application in ROM does not download the application, but only verifies the current application is loaded in the target Flash ROM. You may automatically download the application into Flash ROM when the debugger starts by enabling the option Update Target before Debugging in the Project - Options for Target - Utilities dialog.
