MCBx51 User's Guide

Monitor Modes

The MCBx51 board comes with a Monitor EPROM that contains several different Monitor configurations. Most of the Monitor configurations are required to run the different CPU types on the board.

The following Monitor settings are independent of the CPU type used in the MCBx51 board.

DIP SwitchMonitor Mode
Ext_UartON: Use EXT RS232 interface, 57,600 baud for Monitor communication.
OFF: Use INT RS232 interface, 19,200 baud at 12MHz or 38,400 baud at 24MHz for Monitor communication.
Int_UartON: An interrupt is generated on P3.2 by the ext_UART.
OFF: No interrupt is generated, no serial break function is available in µVision.
LEDON: Display Monitor Status on Port 1 LEDs.
OFF: Monitor status is not displayed and Port 1 is not affected.
MonitorON: Use Monitor for debugging.
OFF: User EPROM as IC13. Refer to MAP1 and MAP0 DIP Switches for the User EPROM Memory Map.

For devices not using an 8051 compatible on-chip UART (like the Atmel AT/TSC80251A1), you must use the EXT RS232 interface (Ext_Uart DIP switch ON).
