To debug your program on the 8051 device, you must first:
- Create Mon-51 or ISD51
- Download Mon-51 or ISD51 to the board. See Installing and Using the Keil Monitor-51 or the How to configure and use the ISD51 In-System Debugger Application Note.
- Create your program
- Download your program to the board
Now your program is ready for debugging.
µVision IDE offers a very powerful and comprehensive set of debugging tools designed to make program testing easier and reduce the time it takes to produce a working application.
- Start the Debugger.
Use the Start/Stop Debug Session toolbar button to start debugging the program.Or
Use the µVision command, Debug - Start/Stop Debug Session, to start debugging the program.
- The debugger connects to the MCBx51 board and runs the application program. In case of communication problems a dialog box opens that displays further options and instructions.
- You may single step through your code and use other debugger features.
