Debugging with FS2

The FS2 System Navigator is debug hardware that connects to the 2-wire debug interface of the Philips LPC952 device. 

  1. Setup the FS2 System Navigator
    • Disconnect the USB power cable from the MCB950 board.
    • Connect the FS2 System Navigator to the 10-pin JTAG connector on the MCB950 board.
    • Connect the FS2 System Navigator to the PC using a USB mini cable. After few seconds, the Power indicator LED turns on and the COMM LED blinks once.
    • Configure the jumper settings for the user run (RESET: OFF, RUN: ON).
    • Re-connect the USB power cable to the MCB950 board to the PC.
    • Enable the Reset Pin and configure the 2-wire JTAG debug mode. This may be done in the Startup Code or with Flash Magic.
  2. Configure the µVision Debugger
    • button Click the button to open the Project — Options for Target — Debug dialog.
    • Enable Use: and select FS2 PHILIPS 8051 Driver as the FS2 System Navigator debugging tool.
    • Check the Load Application at Startup and the Run to main() options to load your application and execute code up to the beginning of your main() function when the debugger starts.

      FS2 options

    • Click the Settings button to open the FS2 PHILIPS 8051 Driver setup dialog where you may configure the FS2 System Navigator.
  3. Start the Debugger
    • button Use the Start/Stop Debug Session toolbar button to start debugging the program. This performs program testing as described in the µVision User's Guide Target Debugging topic.
  4. Note

    • Check the device settings with Flash Magic if there are problems with the FS2 System Navigator.
