Setting the JTAG Clock

To get the best performance from your ULINK JTAG adapter, it's important to set the JTAG clock rate for the MCB54110 board. The following steps show you how this is done.

  1. Power up the MCB54110 Board.
  2. In µVision, Configure the Debugger in the Project — Options for Target — Debug dialog.

    Options for Target Button Use the Options for Target toolbar button and click the Debug tab to display the Debug dialog.

    For CMSIS-DAP downloading and debugging:

    Use: ULINK ARM DebuggerSelect the Use: radio button and then CMSIS-DAP Debugger in the drop-down list to choose the CMSIS-DAP controller as the debugging tool.

    For ULINK downloading and debugging:

    Use: ULINK ARM DebuggerSelect the Use: radio button and then ULINK2/ME Cortex Debugger in the drop-down list to choose the ULINK USB-JTAG Adapter as the debugging tool.

  3. Click the Settings button to open the Cortex-M Target Driver Setup dialog.

    Target Driver Setup - ULINK2 AdapterSelect the SW option from the Port: drop-down list to use the Serial Wire JTAG interface of the Cortex-M4 device.

    Since the Cortex-M4 device supports both JTAG and Serial Wire modes, check the SWJ checkbox.

    The Max Clock drop-down list sets the highest JTAG clock rate used to communicate to the target board. When using CMSIS-DAP, ULINK2 or ULINK-ME adapter, the 5MHz setting works best with the MCB54110 board.
