Serial Ports

The MCB2470 board includes an on-chip serial UART to the SP3243E (U11), which converts the logic signals to RS-232 voltage levels. It also includes a USB to Serial bridge FT232RQ (U8) which may be used in bootstrap mode to download other utilities for debugging or downloading flash.

The UART#0 USB connector can supply power to the board and be configured as a USB serial bridge for UART0 with ISP functionality by installing the jumpers RST, P2.10, TxD0, and RxD0 at location J14.

The RS232 DB9 connector is wired to an 8-wire RS232 full modem transceiver.  This RS232 interface may be connected as a full modem to UART#1 by installing jumpers J23 and J24 in the upper position, and installing the 6 jumpers at J20.  Installing jumpers J23 and J24 in the lower position connects the RS232 transceiver to RxD and TxD on UART#2
