| Checking Serial OutputTo check the serial output from the BLINKY program, connect a 3 meter, Male/Female DB9 serial cable from the COM1 serial port on the board to an unused COM port on your development PC. Use a terminal emulation program, such as Microsoft Windows HyperTerminal, to display the serial data on your PC monitor. Note - The MCB2140 Evaluation Board is a superset of the MCB2130 Evaluation Board. All MCB2130 examples (BLINKY, SOUND, and VOICE) work with the MCB2140.
To start the Microsoft Windows HyperTerminal application, select Start — Programs — Accessories — Communication — HyperTerminal. Enter a Name for the new connection, for example: MCB2130.
Select the PC COM port COM1 under Connect Using.
Select 9600 Bits per second, 8 Data bits, Parity None, Stop bits 1 and Flow control None.
Click OK. The serial message containing the value of AIN1 from the MCB2140 board displays continuously in the HyperTerminal window, as shown below. Adjusting the potentiometer on the MCB2140 board changes the AIN1 Result value displayed.
