Floating License Administrator

The Floating License Administrator is responsible for creating the Floating License File (*.FLF) on a network server. Each workstation that uses the FLF must have access to the server and must use the identical Universal Naming Convention (UNC) path (for example, \\server\share\folder). Each user must have read/write/modify access rights to the FLF file.  The file server computer hosting the FLF may not be used as a client workstation.

To create a Floating License File...

  • In uVision, open the dialog File - License Management... and click the Floating License Administrator tab.
  • Enter the path where the Floating License File should be saved. This folder must be a network drive.
  • Enter the PSN of the Floating-User License.
  • Click the button Create FLF....

    License Management Dialog

For a new FLF that replaces the existing FLF...

  • Inform your users to install a new LIC based on the new FLF.
  • In case the new FLF does not overwrite the existing FLF, remove the old FLF after the last user switched to the new FLF.

  • It is impossible to change the path to the Floating License File after the first license has been obtained from the Keil web site.
  • Windows Roaming User Profiles, which include registry copy, are incompatible with Keil Floating Licensing.
