General Settings

Within the general section, tracing can be enabled, the core clock frequency can be adjusted, and the caching behavior defined.

General Target Settings
  • Enable defines whether tracing is turned on or off.
  • Core Clock has to correspond to the system settings, otherwise the captured data might not be valid.
  • Trace Cache Size reserves this RAM space on the host PC to store captured data temporarily.
  • Use Cache File ( max 1GB) extends the trace buffer and creates a file on the hard disk. If µVision stops, the data are flushed and shown in trace windows. If the 1GB limit is reached, the device is stopped and the trace must be cleared. Right-click in the Instruction Trace Window for a context menu.

Note

  • Some applications reset the CPU Core Clock in the startup code. When debugging such applications, stop the program execution before the clock rate gets configured, and modify Core Clock to match the new clock rate. Use the menu Debug — Debug Settings ... or assign the new value to the VTREG CORE_CLK.
