EPM900 User's Guide

Configuring the EPM900

Jumpers J1, J2, and XTAL configure the EPM900 for it's intended use.

Emulation Mode

Jumper1 Set J1 and J2 to Emu to select emulation mode. In this mode the EPM900 operates as an emulator. Power (3.3 Volts) from the EPM900 is supplied to the emulated device's VDD pin.

Emulation Mode Without Target Power

Jumper2 Set J1 to Emu to select emulation mode and remove J2 to disconnect the target power supply from the EPM900 power supply. When J2 is removed, the VDD pin of the device under emulation is not supplied with 3.3V power from the EPM900.

Programming Mode

Jumper jlj2 Set J1 and J2 to Prog to select programming mode. In this mode, the EPM900 operates as a device programmer and can parallel program the on-chip Flash memory of an LPC9xx device.

Clock Source

Jumper3 The Philips LPC900 devices support several clock sources. The XTAL jumpers select whether the clock is internal (int.) or external (ext.). If an external clock is used, you must populate Q1 (user-XTAL) on the EPM900 board.
