XBUS Memory and Peripherals

The XBUS is the internal bus used to access external, off-chip devices (memory or peripherals). Access to the XBUS is slower then other on-chip hardware. Some C16x/XC16x derivatives have on-chip memory or peripherals that are connected to the XBUS.

  • On-chip XRAM is on-chip memory that is connected to the XBUS. This memory may be used for program variables or buffers.
  • XBUS Peripherals are on-chip peripherals that are connected to the XBUS instead of SFR memory.
